UAE Travel Demand Soars Despite Unchanged Costs
Emirates Expects to Fly Over 150,000 Passengers During the Holiday Rush in Dubai
Dubai: Flagship airline Emirates will expand its regional schedule with 19 additional flights during the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holiday. This year, more than 150,000 customers are expected to fly with the airline during Eid Al Fitr across the region, with additional flights planned from Jeddah, Kuwait, Beirut and Amman.
Emirates will add seven extra flights to Jeddah from April 7 to April 13. The additional flights will allow Emirates customers to venture to popular destinations like Dubai, London, and the Maldives or visit family and friends in Colombo and Karachi.
In Kuwait, Emirates will add six extra flights between April 7 and 20, catering to the significant travel demand to popular leisure gateways like Dubai, Bangkok, and Osaka. This will also allow travellers to head home to Chennai, Hyderabad, Sialkot, and Peshawar.
Emirates expects many passenger departures from Dubai starting April 5 due to the upcoming Eid break. Meanwhile, Dubai International (DXB), the world’s leading airport for international passenger traffic, is gearing up to welcome an estimated 3.6 million guests from April 2 to April 15, as the week-long Eid Al Fitr holiday coincides with the spring break.
During this period, the daily traffic is set to exceed 258,000 guests on average, with hectic weekends forecasted. Saturday, April 13, is expected to be the busiest day, with total guest numbers soaring to 292,000. The airport has advised Emirates passengers to take advantage of the airline’s home, early and self-check-in facilities, including city check-in options.
It has also urged flydubai passengers to arrive at least four hours before departure. DXB surpassed the 2019 traffic levels in 2023 by welcoming 87 million guests, and the initial forecast suggests the hub’s traffic will exceed 88.8 million guests in 2024. The Airports Council International (ACI) announced that the airport is ranked as the world’s number one airport by international passenger numbers for 2022.
